Record Car construction
In the winter of 2007/8 the original body was adapted to reconstruct the detailed aerodynamic fittings such as Head fairing, solid aluminium tonneau and air intakes at the front. The original panels had to be refitted to make the construction as solid as possible considering the arduous nature of its destined performance criteria.
By February 2008 the body work was complete and the special 16 inch peg drive Dunlop Wheels were fitted with new purpose built Hubs made fron the original factory drawings sourced by Jeremy Welch.
It emerged, painted in a' mesmeric shade of metallic green' looking absolutely fabulous. The colour was verified by Geoff Healey shortly before his untimely death it.
It was on show at International Healey weekend on the 16-18 May 2008 at Goodwood as a rolling chassis and was viewed by Roy Jackson Moore (one of the original drivers) to verify accuracy just prior to this event.
The rebuild was completed in July 2008 followed by three test days to determine theoretical versus actual performance with fuel, tyres and driver facilities being tested.
The most recent test drive of the car at Millbrook proved the performance criteria that needs to be addressed prior to the record attempt.
